Man facing attempted murder charge

The St Catherine police have formally charged a man with attempted murder and robbery with aggravation following an incident that occurred in McCooks Pen, Spanish Town, on March 1.

Charged is 23-year-old Givannie McFarlane, otherwise called 'Jio' of Boswell Avenue, Kingston 20. Reports from the Spanish Town police are that the complainant went to a house to retrieve a sum of money that was owed to him. Upon entering the house, he observed three men, one of whom reportedly stabbed him to the neck and placed a pillow over his face in an effort to strangle him. McFarlane allegedly drove away in a Toyota motor car and left with a Lenovo laptop, bank and identification cards all belonging to the complainant.

A report was made to the police, after which an investigation was launched and a warrant obtained for the arrest of the accused. McFarlane later turned himself over to the police and was formally charged. His court date is being finalised.
