A chilling statement allegedly made moments before a deadly attack has landed a St Catherine farmer behind bars on a murder charge after a bus driver was repeatedly stabbed with a pitchfork in Bois Content, Old Harbour.

Charged is 36-year-old Peter Fable of Free Marlie, Bois Content, Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old bus driver Mario Newell of Joe Brown District, Bois Content.

According to police reports, about 10 p.m. on July 1, Fable allegedly armed himself with a pitchfork and approached Newell, telling him he had "Someting" to give him.

Police allege that he then repeatedly stabbed Newell in the chest and face with the pitchfork, inflicting injuries that bled profusely.

The accused reportedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police during an operation.

Newell was assisted to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation by the Old Harbour police led to Fable's arrest on suspicion of murder.

He was formally charged on July 2 following a question-and-answer session.
