Teen charged with murder of construction worker
A teenage boy is among two persons charged in connection with the murder of 18-year-old construction worker Miguel "Bingy" Anderson, who was fatally shot at a shop in Quarry Hill, Spanish Town, on June 13.
Charged are 35-year-old Sherman Wright and a male teen, both of Quarry Hill, St Catherine.
The pair face charges of murder, shooting with intent, malicious destruction of property, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
According to reports from the Spanish Town Police, Anderson was at a shop in the community about 8 p.m. on June 13 when he was attacked by armed men.
Investigators say the assailants opened fire, hitting the teenager before fleeing the area.
The police were alerted and Anderson was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following investigations, Wright and the teen reportedly turned themselves in to the police and were subsequently charged.
Their court dates are being finalised.
