3-y-o fatally hit after breaking free from mother's grip
A three-year-old boy died after he reportedly broke free from his mother's grip and ran into the path of an oncoming motor car in Old Harbour, St Catherine, on Saturday evening.
The child has been identified as Ozaiah Williams of Blackwood Gardens, Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine.
According to the police, the tragedy unfolded about 6:30 p.m. along Terminal Road in Old Harbour.
Investigators reported that Ozaiah ran from his mother's grip onto the roadway and into the path of a white 2017 Toyota Probox.
The child sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
The Old Harbour Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the latest Island Traffic Authority (ITA) road safety statistics, 137 people had been killed in 123 fatal crashes across Jamaica up to June 26.
