Supernatural Power all the way

IT will take an insane punter to even consider an option with absolutely no need to look past SUPERNATURAL POWER in Saturday's feature race.

Having finished behind only Mouttet Mile winners, or runners-up, in her last three races, United States-bred SUPERNATURAL POWER has cashed in on conditions by two classes lower, facing overnight-allowance runners in the World Vet Day Trophy at a mile.

Before finishing fourth in last year's US$300,000 Mouttet Mile behind RIDEALLDAY, LEGACY ISLE and FUNCAANDUN, SUPERNATURAL POWER had actually clocked the fastest time at a mile for 2026, a zippy 1:36.2, carrying 119lb in an October open allowance, repeating against TIZ TOK, who she had beaten at the same level, clocking 1:25.0 for seven furlongs in September.

SUPERNATURAL POWER's last run, was second behind RIDEALLDAY track record 1:41.4 in Easter Monday's Ian Levy Cup. The Mouttet Mile winner obliterated fellow importee Smile 'N' Leave's at eight and a half furlongs.

RIDEALLDAY posted 1:41.4 with 126lb, two-fifths of a second faster than Smile 'N' Leave's 1:42.1, carrying 96lb in 1997.

SUPERNATURAL POWER, who finished two and a half lengths behind RIDEALLDAY, clocked 1:42.2, a fifth of a second off Smile 'N' Leave's 19-year-old track record.

It gets really ridiculous for a grade-one runner, who twice beat open allowance in the last seven months, to be a pound heavier than hapless local-breds, SENSATIONAL SOUL and MARK MY IDENTITY, neither of whom have ever won an overnight allowance, a level lower than open allowance.
