National senior women's football team head coach Vin Blaine is calling for a large spectator turnout at Sabina Park this evening.

The Reggae Girlz face the Dominica Republic in a top-of-the-table Group C Concacaf Women's Championship-qualifying match at 6 p.m. The Reggae Girlz need at least a draw to advance as they lead the group on nine points, the same as the Dominican Republic, but have a goal difference of +18, to their +14.

Blaine was pleasantly surprised at the support the team got from Jamaicans in the Cayman Islands at the weekend in a game they won 9-0, with striker and captain Khadija Shaw and winger Trudi Carter getting hat-tricks.

"I would love the fans to come out and give maximum support," Blaine told STAR Sports. "The girls need the support. We are at home, and we need the fans to come out and support the Girlz, who are looking forward to it.

"We got such good support in Cayman. The stadium there was full, and it was 90 per cent Jamaicans.

"They cheered the girls on right through, even for bad passes, and it really motivated them. So we are hoping that we get the same level of support for this game here, because the 12th man helps carry a team."

Although confident of securing their place in the championship, Blaine is wary of the opponents.

"You must be concerned about a team that hasn't lost any games," he said. "They have scouted us, I am sure. So they know who we are and what we bring to the table.

"We have the slight advantage because they have to win the game. But they have good players with experience, so we cannot take them lightly."

Blaine wants an early goal to put pressure on the Dominicans, whom he expects to be resolute throughout.

"The fact that the fans are second-guessing the team and what we will be facing against Dom Rep means they are a formidable team," he said. "But we know that, and the girls are well prepared and mentally focused. If we win 1-0, I am okay. We are not here to prove we can score goals, we are here to win games.

"The fans would like us to go up 4-0 and show we are the better team, and I am sure the girls would like that as well, but I am comfortable with a 1-0 win.

"We definitely expect to get pass this round and then plan for the second round."
