Police find blood in car linked to missing detective corporal Sylvester Reid
The disappearance of a Clarendon policeman, Sylvester Reid, has taken a chilling turn after lawmen discovered blood inside a car believed to have been driven by him, intensifying fears surrounding his whereabouts.
The 42-year-old detective corporal attached to the Clarendon Division, has been missing since Tuesday, April 14.
Police say Reid was last seen about 8:00 p.m. at his Evans Heights home in May Pen, wearing a white T-shirt, grey shorts and black slippers.
The case took a dramatic twist on April 22 when members of the Operational Support Team, while on patrol along Old Harbour Road in Spanish Town about 1:00 p.m., spotted a grey Nissan Tiida Latio motorcar parked along the roadway with its doors and windows tightly locked.
Suspicious, the officers conducted checks and called in a locksmith to gain access to the vehicle.
Upon searching the car, investigators reportedly discovered blood on the inside of the driver's door along with a bag containing clothing.
Further checks revealed that the vehicle was linked to Reid, who has been missing for over a week.
The discovery has since triggered an intensified probe by detectives from the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch.
Reid is of fair complexion, medium build and about 168 centimetres (5 feet 6 inches) tall.
Despite ongoing efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown.
Police continue to anyone with information that could assist in locating him to contact the May Pen Police at 876-986-2208, call 119, or report to the nearest police station.
