The policeman charged in the controversial shooting death of Latoya 'Buju' Bulgin has been granted bail, nearly two weeks after he was denied his freedom by the court.

Constable Andrew Wilson, who is facing a murder charge in connection with the May 17 killing of the 45-year-old Granville woman, was offered bail in the sum of $1 million with up to three sureties when he appeared before the St James Parish Court on Monday.

Wilson, who is represented by attorneys Peter Champagnie and Michael Hemmings, made his second court appearance before Parish Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton.

During the hearing, the court was informed that prosecutors are now in possession of a statement from the owner of a CCTV camera that reportedly captured footage of the fatal incident.

Judge Fairclough-Hylton granted Wilson bail on strict conditions, including that he reside at a specified address and report to a designated police station. The locations were not disclosed in open court due to concerns for the accused's safety.

Wilson was also ordered to surrender his travel documents, and a stop order was imposed at all ports of entry.

The court also heard that several key documents remain outstanding from the prosecution's case file, including the ballistic certificate, post-mortem report and forensic certificate.

The matter was postponed until July 10.

Wilson was arrested and charged on June 3 after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that he should face a murder charge in relation to Bulgin's death.

The case has attracted widespread public attention since CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online, appearing to show a police officer firing at a vehicle driven by Bulgin.

Public outrage intensified after videos also emerged showing Bulgin's body being placed into a police vehicle, sparking fiery protests in Granville and renewed calls for body-worn cameras to be used during high-risk police operations.
