SIMILAR to half-siblings, LOTTERY TICKET and YAYA'S DREAM, BIG BIG DADDY (Natural Selection-Just A Flutter) appears to have found his sweet spot as a run-on sprinter, considering how he motored past rivals to notch his second straight win last Sunday.

Refitted with blinkers, replacing the visor in which he had won his previous event at nine furlongs and 25 yards, BIG BIG DADDY blew past GENERATIONAL, who had beaten him by three-quarter length at six and a half on New Year's Day.

Though renewing rivalry on Sunday with the handicaps favouring GENERATIONAL, who was 11lb heavier last week, BIG BIG DADDY's acceleration inside the last furlong, from three lengths behind his old rival, was a spectacle to behold as he pulled away for a near five-length victory.

A quarter lengths better

BIG BIG DADDY's manner of victory, turning a three-and-a-half length deficit into a four-and-three-quarter length win, puts him eight and a quarter lengths better than GENERATIONAL inside the last furlong, which will be even better for Gary Subratie's runner with an additional half-furlong to run.

Subratie's foreigner, AWESOME TREASURE, is in eight pounds over the allotted 110lb for the services of Dane Nelson.

AWESOME TREASURE ran well with Nelson at seven and a half furlongs, well held in second place by Philip Feanny's progressive importee, EXCESSIVE FORCE. However, GENERATIONAL had finished ahead of him when sprinting five and a half on January 9, suggesting the United States-bred filly doesn't relish company on the lead.

BIG BIG DADDY's quick return might have shown Subratie's hand, a tag team in which AWESOME TREASURE's speed could take out the likes of MONEY MONSTER, CITY COUNSEL and SPEECHLESS, setting it up for her improved stablemate.

CITY COUNSEL and SPEECHLESS are natural front runners but won't stay the trip whereas MONEY MONSTER has pace but weakened badly behind EXCESSIVE FORCE and AWESOME TREASURE on last. Subratie must have fancied how BIG BIG DADDY won last week to have him pull back-to-back duties, a cue which should be followed in his bid for a hat-trick of wins.
