Police charge Kingston man for entering motorist’s car and robbing him
The police have charged a man accused of entering the vehicle of a motorist who had stopped to give passage to another driver, and then robbing him of money and other valuables.
Osaka Gillespie, 38, of Mark Lane, Kingston, was on Tuesday charged with robbery with violence, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
A court date is to be set.
The police say the incident happened along John's Lane in Kingston.
Reports from the Kingston Central police are that about 9:00 a.m., Gillespie, armed with a firearm, entered a man's vehicle after he stopped along the roadway to allow another vehicle to pass.
He reportedly struck the driver on the head with the firearm before robbing him of a cellphone, a modem, and $21,000, then fleeing the scene on foot.
A report was made to the police, and Gillespie was apprehended and subsequently charged on Tuesday, December 9.
